Spotify now sells physical books to users in the US and UK via its Android app. The feature will roll out to iOS devices next week. The expansion follows Spotify’s push into new media formats beyond music and podcasts.
The company confirmed the update on Tuesday, saying the feature is available immediately for Android users. iOS users will receive it by April 22. This move aligns with Spotify’s strategy to integrate more content types into its platform.
Users can browse and purchase books directly within the app. The selection includes titles from major publishers, though specific authors or genres were not disclosed. Payments are processed through Spotify’s existing billing system.
The feature is not available in all regions. Spotify has not announced plans for wider international expansion yet. This step comes as the company competes with other platforms expanding into physical media.
The update is part of Spotify’s broader effort to become a multi-content platform. Earlier this year, it introduced audiobook sales in select markets.
