PhotonHub Europe has supported over 200 photonics startups in preparing for investor meetings. The program focuses on bridging the gap between advanced technology and business readiness. Startups often struggle not just with development but with clearly communicating their value to potential partners and investors.
The initiative provides online coaching and hands-on training to help these companies refine their pitches. Sessions cover technical validation, market analysis, and financial projections. According to PhotonHub’s 2024 report, 78% of participants reported improved confidence in investor discussions after completing the program.
One example is QuantaSol, a German startup working on quantum photonics. After joining PhotonHub, the company secured €3.5 million in seed funding. CEO Anna Bauer said the training helped her team present complex technology in simpler terms. “Investors need to see the business case, not just the science,” she explained.
Another participant, LumiCore from Poland, used PhotonHub’s mentorship to refine its laser-based sensor technology. The startup later signed a deal with a major automotive supplier. Program manager Lars Jensen noted that startups often underestimate the importance of storytelling in securing investments.
PhotonHub Europe operates under the EU’s Horizon Europe funding scheme. Its goal is to make photonics startups more competitive globally. The program continues to expand, with plans to include more specialized workshops in 2025.
