The fourth edition of the Government Pension Fund Global investment conference opens in Oslo this Tuesday, drawing the world’s largest institutional investors and asset managers to discuss long-term capital allocation strategies.
Nicolai Tangen, CEO of Norges Bank Investment Management, confirmed the event’s growing importance. We are starting to see the real impact of this conference, he said. Over 500 delegates from 30 countries will attend, including representatives from sovereign wealth funds, pension managers, and leading private equity firms.
The conference follows the fund’s annual reporting cycle, which in 2023 showed a return of 16.2 billion kroner and total assets under management reaching 15.3 trillion kroner. Discussions will focus on sustainable investment frameworks, emerging market exposure, and technology-driven portfolio strategies.
Previous editions have featured keynote speeches from central bank governors and Nobel laureates in economics. This year’s agenda includes panels on climate-risk integration and digital asset regulation, reflecting the fund’s push into new asset classes.
Tangen emphasized the conference’s role in fostering transparency. Investors need reliable data to make long-term decisions, he said. The event provides a platform for sharing best practices and aligning expectations across global markets.
