Ukraine and Norway signed an agreement on Wednesday for the production of Ukrainian drones in Norway. The deal was announced during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to Oslo. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre confirmed the partnership, stating it will strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
Under the agreement, Norwegian companies will manufacture Ukrainian-designed drones locally. This move aims to increase production speed and reduce reliance on foreign supplies. The drones will be used for reconnaissance and strikes, according to Ukrainian defense officials.
Zelensky thanked Norway for its support during the ongoing war. He highlighted the importance of expanding domestic drone production amid Russia’s continued attacks. Norway has already provided military aid, including air defense systems and training.
The partnership follows months of negotiations between Ukrainian defense ministry officials and Norwegian industrial leaders. Norwegian defense companies will handle logistics and maintenance for the drones. This collaboration is expected to create jobs in Norway while boosting Ukraine’s military production.
The agreement does not include specific production numbers or timelines. Further details will be discussed in upcoming meetings between defense officials from both countries.
