The rise of password managers over the past decade mirrors the adoption of antivirus software in the early 2000s. Just as antivirus tools became essential for protecting personal computers, password managers now serve as a critical layer of security for online accounts. NordPass, a provider in this space, has introduced a family subscription option that reduces costs for households needing shared access.
The service operates on a tiered model. A single-user plan costs 19.99 dollars per year, while the family plan covers six users for 35.88 dollars annually. Both tiers include unlimited password storage, secure sharing of login details, and emergency access features. The family plan also allows users to create separate vaults within the same account, keeping personal and shared credentials distinct.
NordPass competes with established names like 1Password and Bitwarden, which offer similar family pricing. However, NordPass differentiates itself with a lifetime discount promotion currently active. The company states this is a limited-time offer, though no expiration date has been disclosed.
Security experts recommend using unique passwords for each account to prevent credential stuffing attacks. NordPass’s tool generates strong passwords automatically and stores them in an encrypted vault. The family plan extends these protections to multiple users without requiring separate subscriptions.
The promotion applies to new subscribers only. Existing users can upgrade to the family plan at the discounted rate. NordPass has not provided details on whether the price increase will occur after the promotional period ends.
