A Berlin-based startup focused on reviving Europe’s night train network has closed a €2 million pre-Seed funding round. Nox Mobility plans to use the funds to hire staff, construct a full-scale mock-up of its sleeper cars, and prepare for the launch of its first routes in 2027.
The funding round was led by IBB Ventures, a Berlin-based venture capital firm. Additional backers include Italian investor Tommaso Lucca and HomeToGo co-founder and CEO. The investment follows growing demand for sustainable long-distance travel options in Europe.
Nox Mobility’s goal is to reintroduce night trains as a viable alternative to short-haul flights. The company says its sleeper cars will offer private cabins and shared compartments, targeting travelers who prioritize comfort and environmental impact. Construction of a full-scale prototype is set to begin this year.
The startup’s first routes will connect major European cities, with a focus on reducing travel time and carbon emissions. Nox Mobility aims to compete with airlines by offering competitive pricing and overnight convenience.
This funding round marks a step toward restoring night trains as a key part of Europe’s transportation network. The company expects to finalize its first route plans by 2025.
