Rocsys unveiled the Rocsys M1 on Tuesday, the first multi-bay hands-free charging system designed for robotaxi fleets. The Netherlands-based startup specializes in automated charging solutions for autonomous electric vehicles. The system allows simultaneous charging in multiple bays without human intervention, a critical feature for large-scale robotaxi operations. Rocsys operates from its headquarters in Rijswijk.
The company announced a €11.1 million Series A extension led by Capricorn Partners. Other investors included Scania Invest and Forward. One, bringing total Series A funding to €20 million. The new capital will accelerate development and deployment of the M1 system. Rocsys plans to install the first commercial units later this year.
Robotaxi operators require reliable, high-speed charging infrastructure to maintain fleet uptime. The M1 system uses robotic arms and vision technology to connect charging plugs to vehicles automatically. It supports multiple charging standards, including CCS and CHAdeMO, ensuring compatibility with diverse robotaxi models.
Rocsys CEO Sjoerd van der Zwaan stated the funding will help scale production and expand into new markets. The company aims to partner with major mobility providers and vehicle manufacturers. The M1 system is currently undergoing field tests with select partners in Europe.
The robotaxi industry is preparing for commercial launches in 2025. Efficient charging solutions are vital to operational efficiency. Rocsys positions itself as a leader in hands-free charging technology for autonomous fleets.
