French prosecutors investigating X for distributing child sexual abuse material and deepfake content summoned Elon Musk for questioning in Paris. Musk did not appear for the scheduled interrogation.
The investigation targets X, formerly known as Twitter, over content moderation failures. French authorities focus on cases of exploitation of minors and AI-generated fake videos. Prosecutors allege the platform failed to remove illegal material despite multiple reports.
Musk’s absence follows a formal summons sent last week. His legal team did not provide an explanation for his no-show. French media reported the prosecutor’s office confirmed Musk’s failure to comply with the request.
The case stems from complaints filed by French digital rights groups. They accused X of violating EU laws on online safety and child protection. French officials have previously fined tech companies for similar violations.
This is the second time Musk has been summoned by European authorities this year. In February, he faced questions in Ireland over X’s compliance with EU digital regulations.
