Digitalisation and administration minister Karianne Tung will visit Kristiansand and Iveland on Friday as part of a two-location tour aimed at energy security and digital infrastructure. The programme includes stops at a renewable energy conference and expanded backup power sites for mobile base stations. Tung, from the Labour Party, is scheduled to attend the annual conference of Renewable Energy Norway at 08.30 in Kristiansand before moving to Iveland for site visits and talks on emergency preparedness.
At the Renewable Energy Norway conference in Radisson Blu Caledonien Hotel, Tung will speak on themes including artificial intelligence, data centre energy use, digital security and vulnerabilities in critical systems. The event brings together industry leaders and policymakers to discuss the intersection of green energy and digital technology.
After the conference, Tung travels to Iveland municipality for a series of technical inspections. She will be accompanied by the local mayor and representatives from the Norwegian Communications Authority and local operators to inspect Telenor and Telia mobile base stations that have received upgraded backup power capacity. The aim is to assess how recent upgrades improve network resilience during power outages.
A brief stop at Iveland town hall at 12.30 will focus on public safety and emergency planning. Local officials will present measures taken to strengthen municipal preparedness in coordination with national digitalisation policies.
Media are invited to cover all segments. Press contact is Oscar Henrik Biti Næss from the Ministry of Digitalisation and Administration, reachable by email and phone for further details.
