MUMBAI — A new vending machine for KitKat in India has drawn attention for its unusually slow delivery method. Instead of a quick drop into a tray, the chocolate bar travels for three minutes on a miniature train track before reaching the customer. The automated system uses a small locomotive to transport the product through a decorated landscape featuring model trains and scenery. The process is part of a campaign by Mumbai-based agency HotDigital to promote the brand’s relaunch in the country. According to the agency, the concept aims to create a memorable experience rather than speed. The machine operates in a public space in Mumbai, where customers can watch the chocolate’s journey in real time. The campaign’s creative director confirmed that the setup was designed to align with the brand’s identity of taking breaks and enjoying the moment. No official sales figures have been released, but the installation has generated online discussion about its novelty. The vending machine runs during limited hours, and users must scan a QR code to place an order. The chocolate bar is packaged in a branded box once it completes the trip. HotDigital has not disclosed plans for similar installations elsewhere.
