A new laptop model has arrived in Norway this week, aiming to fill a gap for Linux users who want a premium machine without Apple’s ecosystem. The Framework Laptop 13 Pro goes on sale with a starting price of 16,090 kroner, positioning itself as a direct alternative to the MacBook Pro for those running Linux distributions. The device features a fully machined aluminum chassis, a haptic trackpad, and a 2.8K touchscreen developed in-house. Pre-orders opened on Tuesday with deliveries expected within two weeks.
Framework has built a reputation for modular laptops that let users swap components like RAM and storage. The 13 Pro continues that approach but shifts focus to performance and build quality. The 2.8K display supports 120Hz refresh rates and comes with 100% sRGB color coverage. The haptic trackpad replaces traditional mechanical buttons, offering force feedback for gestures. Internally, the laptop uses AMD Ryzen 7040 series processors with options for up to 64GB of RAM and 4TB of storage.
The company says the 13 Pro is designed for professionals who need reliability and repairability. All internal components can be accessed with a single Phillips screwdriver. Framework also offers DIY upgrade kits for users who want to build the laptop themselves. The base configuration starts with 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD, priced at 16,090 kroner. A fully loaded model with 64GB RAM and 4TB storage costs 34,990 kroner.
Availability is nationwide through Framework’s online store and select retailers. The company plans to expand service centers in Norway to support repairs. Framework previously sold the original Framework Laptop 13 in Norway, but this is its first Pro model aimed at the high-end market.
