Databricks introduced two new tools on Thursday designed to reduce the time companies spend processing documents. The company claims these tools can cut document activation time by up to 70%, a significant improvement for enterprises drowning in contracts, invoices, and compliance paperwork.
The tools, Genie and Agent Bricks, automate parts of the document intelligence process. Genie extracts and structures data from unstructured documents, while Agent Bricks orchestrates workflows between different AI agents. Together, they aim to replace manual data entry and reduce errors in document-heavy workflows.
Enterprises currently spend an average of 20 hours per week on document processing, according to a Databricks internal survey. The company states that its new tools have already been tested by early adopters, including a financial services firm that reduced processing time for loan applications by 65%. Another client in healthcare improved invoice processing speed by 50%.
The launch follows Databricks’ acquisition of MosaicML last year, which expanded its AI capabilities. The company positions these tools as part of a broader push to make AI more practical for business use. Genie and Agent Bricks are now available in preview for existing Databricks customers.
