Databricks on Tuesday unveiled a new feature called AI Gateway as part of its Week of Agents event. The tool lets customers connect artificial intelligence agents to external Model Control Protocols (MCPs) and other resources in a secure way.
The announcement targets businesses running multiple AI models and tools. Previously, managing these connections required manual setup and posed security risks. AI Gateway simplifies the process by providing a centralized interface for authentication, access control, and monitoring.
During the Week of Agents, Databricks demonstrated how the feature works. Users can now link agents to MCPs without writing custom code. The system supports various authentication methods, including API keys and OAuth tokens, ensuring compatibility with existing security frameworks.
Databricks stated the tool is designed for enterprise environments. It includes audit logs to track access and changes, which helps meet compliance requirements. The company did not disclose pricing details but said the feature would be available to all customers later this year.
The move reflects growing demand for standardized ways to manage AI tools. Analysts note that as companies deploy more agents and MCPs, secure integration becomes critical to prevent data leaks and operational disruptions.
